Where is NCS located?

The vast majority of NCS activities take place on Tuesday nights at the Josephine Butler Parks Center on 15th Street NW in DC.

We occasionally have events at other places around the city on other days, including in Malcolm X/Meridian Hill Park and at Glen Echo Park. Learn more about social dancing at Glen Echo, and see the calendar of all the events hosted there by NCS and others, at this link.

Walking recommendations and walking buddies

No matter how you get to NCS, you’ll likely walk at least one block.

To get to and from the Columbia Heights metro station, we strongly recommend walking using this path on 15th and Irving Streets.

NCS does not have a formal “walking buddy” program. If you'd like a walking buddy to your car, the metro, or a bus stop, we recommend asking others you meet that evening; many folks will be headed the same way you are.

Ways to get to NCS

Bike: there are bike racks in front of the Parks Center to lock your personal bike to. In addition, there is a Capital Bikeshare station half a block south at 15th and Chapin Streets NW, and another Capital Bikeshare station half a block north at 15th and Euclid Streets NW.

Bus: we are one block from 16th Street bus stops (D60 and D6X lines).

Metro: Columbia Heights is the closest metro station, on the Yellow/Green line. Metro is open until midnight on weeknights; visit this link for WMATA's precise schedule of the last trains to leave the Columbia Heights station.

Where can I park?

We do not have parking on site. Members of our community have created this parking map to give you some ideas for where to look for street parking on Tuesdays. Many of the streets around the Josephine Butler Parks Center have free parking for all vehicles after 6:30pm on weekdays; your best bet will be along 16th Street. Be sure to check and follow posted signage, including paper Emergency No Parking signs.
