Newcomer Mix and Match Contest - Follow Registration

Is this your first time competing? Are you newer to swing dance contests, but have tried one or two? This contest is for you! Come share your dance as the community cheers you on and get a chance at winning a 6-week class series at New Columbia Swing! No partner is required, any swing goes, and the entry fee is only $5!

Format:

Dancers will enter as individuals and will be "mixed and matched" at random with various partners throughout the contest. There will be two rounds, a preliminary round and a final round.

Prelim held during first band break:

All-skate (all competitors dance) to three songs, switching partners for each song. Judges will choose finalists to move to the next round.

Final held during second band break:

Finalists randomly paired with one partner for the entire round. All-skate warm up followed by jam-style (each couple will dance to a half-chorus or 8 8's of music either once or twice depending on the number of finalists and everyone will all-skate to finish the song). A contest coordinator will help the dancers navigate, counting them in for jams and the final all-skate.

This contest is any swing goes, so you may do only Lindy Hop or you may include other styles such as Charleston, Bal, Collegiate Shag, etc.
