The Big Apple routine is a solo dance choreography inspired by a 1930s dance craze in which dancers would form a large circle and perform various common jazz steps. The routine was choreographed by Frankie Manning for the foundational lindy hop performance troupe, Whitey’s Lindy Hoppers, of which Frankie was also a member. Whitey’s Lindy Hoppers were filmed performing the Big Apple routine for the 1937 movie, Keep Punchin’:

 

Learn this piece of lindy hop history and practice a variety of solo jazz movements in the process!

This routine will be taught in two parts. This 3-week series will cover the second half.
